Juan García Nicolás, graphologist and forensic handwriting examiner
Behind every VS Certificate there is one person who examines the item and signs the conclusion: me. I trained for three years at Ipsigrap, hold an official qualification and have spent many years analysing signatures, documents and autographs.

Why Verum Signature was born
For years I saw the same problem among collectors and researchers: signatures with no certificate, or with "certificates" nobody could check, leaving doubt hanging over items of great historical and financial value.
Verum Signature means "true signature". The VS Certificate was created to give a serious answer to that doubt: a technical examination following forensic methods, an honest conclusion and a certificate the buyer can verify.
How I work
- Rigour: every conclusion is based on what the examination allows me to state, with its degree of certainty.
- Independence: I do not certify what the client wants to hear, but what the item shows.
- Transparency: I explain what I examined, with what means and where the limits lie.
- Confidentiality: your items and your data are not shared with anyone.
- Personal service: you deal directly with me, in English or Spanish.
What I examine in a signature
Stroke and pressure
Speed, continuity, pressure and tremor, which distinguish a spontaneous signature from a slow imitation.
Form and proportions
Compared with authentic signatures by the same person from the same period.
Support and ink
Whether the paper, ink and writing instrument are consistent with the date of the item.
Context and provenance
The signer's position, dates, stamps, inscription and chain of ownership.
My other projects
Certification is one part of my work. On my other websites (in Spanish) you will find forensic examinations, analyses of famous signatures and certified autographs.
